Gala Day

The Village Children’s Gala Parade heading to the field. Led as always by the jazz band although those of us near the back of the parade couldn’t hear them!
After so many weeks of dry weather it started to rain just before it was time to set off to join the parade. Lots of hastily found umbrellas! Fortunately it was a short shower and it was a very successful afternoon. We did our usual hour on the ‘Hook a  a Duck’ stalk. Then back home to prepare for our friends coming for a meal with their daughter and granddaughter visiting from Portland Maine. Pre dinner drinks in the garden when we heard the good news of the granddaughters engagement.  Just about to come in when we heard and saw the promised fly past by the Lancaster bomber, postponed from the afternoon because King Charles had need of it! What a lovely day all round.
