Protective

This female started off by showing us a marvellous distraction display and when that didn't distract us enough from her chicks, she flew around a bit and then landed on the water.

From there she did a lot of quacking which seemed to be aimed equally at us and her chicks - to keep us occupied and to tell her chicks not to come out.

Clever girl.
