Pearl
I had to get up at 3am today for the journey to Mtwara on the southernmost part of Tanzania’s coastline, close to the border with Mozambique. We have headed not far from there, to the town of Lindi, for a project inception workshop. Thanks to some recent fundraising success we are initiating a project across the transboundary landscape, tackling the issue of human-wildlife conflict in particular hotspots. It’s UK-government funded through DEFRA, so thank you to any UK taxpayers reading this who are helping to deliver conservation successes in Tanzania and Mozambique.
We were all shattered after the early start and we had unwisely arranged these Monday sessions to be among the week’s most intense.
I was told by one of the drivers about a guesthouse where I should try and get a room for the week. He said it was called White Pill, which I thought must be a drug dealer having a laff. It turns out to be named White Pearl, but it was far too shabby and spartan for its name to include the word pearl.
