Washing behind the ears.
We were all packed up and ready to go by 0900. Impressive I think, although it later transpired that One person left two pairs of trousers hanging in his wardrobe!
The plan was to head for Gjøgv to our hotel, but to stop off en route. This proved a good plan, slightly thwarted by typical Faroese weather with high winds.
We could all have done with extra layers, but our cases were piled high in the back of our minibus.
A few Highland cattle were strewn idly across the road. This calf was washed after it had fed vigorously. I liked the expression on its face.
We made a stop at the old town of Saksun. My first extra is from the splendid Heritage Museum.
Later we were in Grímur Kamban. It is a tiny village. One feature is the turf roofs on local houses. There are also wooden sheds used for drying the lamb. A local specialty is a fermented lamb. I have a no desire to try it!
We are now in a hotel for 3 nights. It is fairly basic but we have all we need. Tonight’s meal was a Portuguese fish soup with freshly caught cod, monkfish, langoustines, mussels with vegetables. It was amazing! Top quality and very tasty.
Rushy gave us a short talk after I had tended to Marv’s finger injury. He accidentally chopped off a layer using a Swiss Army knife. It’s a nasty wound and I had to cobble together the dressing from what was available! We need some better dressings but there is no health centre near to here.
Thank you for your positive comments last night. I have added a couple of extras to last night’s main blip.
