Not again!

We live in an old farmhouse, on a little country road, adjacent to this barn which is still part of the farm, but the farm and the farmhouse are now separate. In the barn lives a little owl which has one chick every year, and this is what has happened to this years chick (bottom of photo).
Last years chick met the same fate sadly. What is it with owls wanting to be on the road when there are fields all around? It was in our back garden last night and flew up into a tree when Mr F took Elvis out last thing.
