"Two greens are behind everything."

Took the chidlers on a train to Manchester today.
Trains... who needs more?
But we did more.

Master B was booted with new sandals and Summer shoes.

Buskers were admired.

Balloons and bubbles filled the air.

Water fountains were ogled at and played in.

The 230 ft Starflyer ride in Piccadilly Gardens was yikesed at, they wanted to, but they didn't want to, they wanted to but they didn't want to!

Sandwiches in the sun.

Manchester City Art Gallery was visited for their 'Light Catchers' event. "Playing with paint and colours to capture light and marks. Inspired by the natural scenes in our Modern Art Between the Wars exhibition."

We were guided by the artists running the workshop to look at the greens, their different shades and textures and the moods they created in each painting. After I'd chatted to the chidlers about sad greens and happy greens one of the artists came over and chatted further. Master B suddenly took on a philosophical look and declared (very seriously) "Two greens are behind everything." Artist looked shocked and said "Wow", I laughed heartily internally while putting on a suitable parent-of-philosopher face.

Off downstairs we went for the kids to paint greens on plastic with different textures so when its dry they can see the light through, like foliage. Then through to another room to take their shoes off and paint with various tools and acrylic paint on massive sheets of plastic. They were beside themselves with glee!.. Until Mummy had to virtually skin them alive to get the paint off their feet.
