Cedar roses and beaded flowers
Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada.
These cedar roses were made for me by an Indigenous friend and the beaded ones by an Indigenous colleague. The vase was used at a NITEP graduation and contained real flowers for the occasion.
Cedar is such an important tree and was used for many things by Indigenous peoples. Every part of the tree was used. The western cedar is in danger, and an event was recently held in Duncan to raise awareness of that. Krista attended the event with others from the ecovilllage. She said it went really well.
