Insect Week - Day 2

We postponed our outing until this afternoon due to the (very welcome) rain. So it was a morning of household chores and I visited dad.

The weather brightened up for the afternoon which meant there was plenty of insect life to photograph. 

This is a hoverfly, Volucella bombylans, an excellent mimic of a bumble bee!
