Cucklet Church

We have been to the village of Eyam, famous for the bravery of the villagers when the plague devastated the village in 1665-66.

Instead of fleeing they isolated and thereby prevented the plague from spreading to nearby villages.

The Clucket Church is a limestone outcrop forming an archway and this was where the Revered Mompesson preached to the parishioners , outdoors and not in the church. It reminded me of the Covid precautions.
