Pink or Green ?

Our “other” little bee hotel was smothered by a runaway clematis last year, so didn’t attract any bees. So I’ve put it elsewhere, and I was surprised to see a leaf-cutter bee heading to it carrying a segment of leaf this afternoon whilst I was working in the area below it. That caused me to pause what I was doing to watch the bee at work.

I was surprised to see the bee carrying in pink petal fragments. She then had a change of heart and added green leaf fragments on top to seal the nest chambers. Choosing the colour of a front door is always a challenge, I think she’s right to stick with green.
