The poorhouse
As extra a sod house where lots of very poor families lived even in the 20th century. Local socialists strived for better housing. At a certain time these poorhouses were built. To have stone walls, floor and a roof. This particular building housed four (large) families. Each a corner of the building. In that corner one room in which to live, cook and sleep. And one outhouse for two families. Still, much better than a sod house. The families would circulate from one corner to the next so each would for a certain amount of time live at the cold side or warm side.
We saw it in a little open air museum. Very interesting.
