Friday Flowers
John's not very good with words, but he IS good at saying things with flowers. Both of us are feeling a little blue about Spikey...even though we know it is the right thing to do.
We met with the usual suspects at Trail House this morning, plus Gail's brother and sister-in-law who are visiting from England. He is the second brother who has visited in the last year and they have both been good company. They are going to Safari West this afternoon but Bob didn't want to go so he is staying home to cook dinner. That sounds like a good thing to me, but Gail was rolling her eyes as regaled us with all the things he was planning to make. She thought it was going to overwhelm him and I said I'd rather go to Safari West than cook dinner...leave him to it and see how he does....
I made an appointment with the knee surgeon months ago which was supposed to be today, but decided I couldn't deal with it right now, so I postponed it for a month. I went instead to pick up the latest quilt. I have only to put on the binding now before I take a picture of it and send it off.
Somebody appears to be living in the Bunker house, the back wall of which is above our bedroom on the lot next door to ours. There have been lights on at night and the other day a camper appeared parked in the field. It doesn't exactly enhance the blank wall behind it but is largely blocked by the rampant growth of suckers at the base of the half dead tree that we are planning to trim. Apparently the suckers should be removed to allow the tree to put its energy into recovering, but we're supposed to get together with the neighbors whose property it is on to decide what to do with it.
Tonight we're going to have barbecued ribs with Bruce and Cindy, our neighbors who live on the creek. Spike is going to go with us as Cindy is the one who told us about him and engineered the 'adoption' and likes to see him. He's usually a good guest...
Thanks once again to Biker Bear for singlehandedly hosting Flower Friday. There's always a flower around to photograph. Right now I'm waiting for our puya plant's blossom to open up with its unearthly turquoise blue flowers, but it is taking forever.
