Nous Sommes Six

Six new families arrived today, and so far so good...they all seem lovely! We have two families holidaying together, and the rest are just as a family. Ended up playing football for about an hour and a half with Jen and one of the family's eldest sons (Rory; five years old). It is nice to finally have the time to be able to do those kinds of things.

So bar playing football, I had quite a varied day including; mop swapping, gas bottle changing, fire alarm checking, phone call taking and calling, as well as the usual cleaning malarkey.

Achievement of the day: Today I changed a window with Jim (swapping the broken window with an unbroken window of an empty mobile), then later on had to ring a glazer to repair the broken pane and have a long conversation with them, ending up with them knocking 50 euros off his price and him staying for a quick drink.

We said goodbye to Jim just after lunch and sent him on his way back to Les Sables. I wish we had someone a bit closer to help us when things go wrong...but I guess you can't have everything! Our afternoon was spent moving some of our stores in our bedrooms into the space underneath the sofas, that we only just thought to look in! I was also very happy to Skype Thomas and Pierre in chez Coloc', although the internet was not spectacular - better luck next time hopefully? Our dinner in the evening was rather special - mainly because it was free! As people tend to leave food behind, it means we get rather a lot of nice free food...not all bad; it is very much like Christmas when we go in to check a van once people have left! After dinner we headed down to watch the sunset on the beach, before we both headed back up and skyped our respective parents. Not a bad day all in all!

Never expect, never assume, never ask and never demand. Just let it be. Because if it is meant to be, it will happen, the way you want things to be.
