River Mary Chapin Carpenter

We know two people in the Yukon, Cindy and Chris.  Cindy was travelling in New Zealand 40 plus years ago and lived and worked for my sister on their orchard.  She felt a strong connection with my sister and her family and stayed in touch and visited with her husband Chris.  On one visit they came and stayed with us in Rotorua.  They live outside of Whitehorse in the country and Cindy is a musher with 26 Siberian Huskies.  I hope to get a good picture of them and her tomorrow.
She needs help with that many dogs and often has young people staying with her.  At the moment it is a delightful young German couple.  We have parked our camper in her yard for the night.
In the afternoon she took us and the young people for a drive to Kusawa Lake which means narrow lake.  It is 75  kms long or 37 miles.  I kept thinking it is a river.  It is popular for canoeing, kayaks and fishing.  Cindy likes to swim there but it was too cold for us.
It has been informative to learn how they live out here and cope with the winter and what dog running or racing is all about.
