A day in the life . . .
Woke to light rain this morning, which was a pity as we'd arranged our informal Keep Oban Beautiful get together at the Glencruitten Walled Garden, to listen to people's ideas and try to persuade a few more folk to join us. Not to worry, the rain didn't last long and Catriona from Green Shoots made omelettes with various herbs from the garden, so we all had a taste along with our cuppa in the Outdoor Kitchen - see extra. Kerry from the GRAB Trust had been invited along, so she set up her display in the yurt which was ours for the day in case it stayed wet.
A few mums with young children came in - it was a normal Green Shoots Open Day - to look around and buy produce, but as the day went on nobody came to talk to us! I took a picture of the yurt - my Blip today - which we'd hoped would have a crowd of people chatting and drinking tea, but was empty and silent. When the washing up was done, and people started to leave, the sun came out and it became quite warm. Still nobody came. And by the time we began clearing up at 3pm, not one single person had bothered to come! We'd put a piece in the Oban Times, we'd put out 30 posters, we'd posted on Facebook - and all for nothing!
We'd had a good chat with friends, tried some home-made omelette and looked round the Walled Garden, but as far as Keep Oban Beautiful was concerned - absolute zero! Why do we bother when nobody seems to care?
