War of the roses
A few years ago we decided to allocate a small part of our garden next to the house for growing only roses. It has been quite labour intensive looking after the sensitive prima donnas but the beautiful blooms they produce, along with their perfume, make it worthwhile. However, like all gardening, it is a bit of a battle against various invaders, especially as we don’t use any chemicals in our garden. Just by chance, I found these eggs on the underside of one of the leaves. Not wanting to take any risks about what rose-loving gobblers they might turn into, I detached the leaf and took it into the wilds at the edge of the garden.
