An old station box on the Barnstaple to Torrington rail line, opened in 1871. Sadly, it closed to passengers in 1965 (a victim of the infamous Beeching cuts,) but continued carrying freight until 1982.
In the late 1980's, the track was dismantled to form the popular and successful Tarka Trail for cyclists and walkers.
