My cousin is renovating her first home, a 1930s semi in Cupar. Showing me round, it was the restored hinges that she took most pride in. Bicarb and coke were two of the substances used, along with a fair measure of elbow grease. 

Upstairs done, downstairs doors are now off to be dipped leaving her with another set of hinges to work on. 

I am duly impressed
