Marbled white on a thistle

I saw my first marbled white of the year on Tuesday last week. Now they are everywhere, even fluttering around my car as I pull up to work very early in the morning.

I just love the patterns on these butterflies. They look drawn on with fineliner. Just like my hardanger - complicated but almost geometric.
