Dusky Birch Sawfly

These little guys have decimated one of my birch trees and are working hard at destroying the second. One has literally about 10 leaves left on it.    I couldn't believe the damage they did in the 72 hours I was gone.  Some my day was spent dealing with these little guys, yuck.  I spent more time thinning out my apples and giving the slugs a drink of beer!  My campanula needed attention too as Mowgli likes to lie in it in the hot weather and it looks pretty sad.  
We  had a tough swim, temperature down to a more normal heat for this time of year, about 13 degrees.
