Isle of Wight

II managed to catch up with a lot of emails and messages this morning and also did some preparation for our road trip from Auckland to Oamaru.  After lunch MrMacD, M and I set off on a walk across Tennyson Down to The Needles Old Battery. There were wonderful views on the down but the wind was blowing rather strongly.  I needed my jacket to keep warm.  We finally reached the Old Battery and our first stop was the Tea Room (I forgot to take a photo) where we had coffee and a scone.  After our refreshment stop we went down a precarious spiral staircase that led to a very long, narrow tunnel, fog horns and a search light, but also a very good view of The Needles. The whole area was very interesting.  After looking around we set off on the return walk home, on a slightly different route from the outward walk.  After arriving home we refreshed ourselves with a G&T.  Unbeknowns to me, the guys also had a second G&T.  We had a delicious supper with lots of lovely red wine.
