Wow what an amazing day in the Azores … we visited a tea factory, walked around Lago Furnas, had lunch where the meat & veg were cooked underground, heated in volcanic holes, swimming in the thermal pools, liqueur tasting, Azorean cake at Vila Franca do Campo, up to the chapel … all with the most beautiful scenery, blue skies, hydrangeas & agapanthus everywhere.

Extra steps going back to the mall to exchange the rushed wrong size things bought yesterday then dinner at a lovely tapas bar with more chilled white vino.

Superb day one.
