Mt York Obelisk
This obelisk sits atop Mt York. It commemorates the first official crossing of the Blue Mountains in 1813, the achievements of Governor Lachlan Macquarie and the completion of Cox's road, the first formed route over the Blue Mountains into the New South Wales interior. It can be seen as a tiny speck many kilometres away across the Hartley Valley, but here it is up close and personal, by late afternoon light.
I fear our rash of sunny winter weather and my feasting upon mellow dusk blips may be drawing to a close ... worst luck.
