Reed Beetle
After such a busy day yesterday, it was good to spend some time at home, photographing a few insects and generally chilling. This is Donacia clavipes, one of the reed beetles that is actually associated with Common Reed (other species are associated with different tall emergent wetland species, despite their name). Adults may be found on young leaf-shoots, larvae on roots. It has a wide distribution in Britain but is generally scattered and local so nice to record it from Vergettes Wood and meadow yesterday.
