Rufus
On the way back from the veterinary - Thank you Lyn and Roy, again, for taking us there as part of our afternoon in Didim. Armed with pain killers and anti inflammatory tablets, the X-ray shows that Rufus has a tail vertebrae slightly out of alignment. The self inflicted wound from where he nibbles at it is, apparently, healing. I'm feeling wretched about it as I have no idea when, where, how it happened - or even if it happened since I adopted him. I'm watching him all the time - so difficult to tell from his behavior because in this heat we are all lethargic - but he still runs with boundless energy after sundown and wags that tail with great enthusiasm when excited so I'm hopeful that it will all be ok eventually. Timing makes it even more difficult to bear as tomorrow I have to leave him with friends while I go to Istanbul until 16th July.
A reminder that when we invest our affection in others - two or four legged - it can be expensive in more ways than money.
