Doncaster over delivered today...
...and the Minster was a real gem...
Jane is visiting all the cities on England, so Doncaster had to feature. It doesn't have a cathedral, but we decided to pop into the Minster anyway, as it has great reviews.
What a revelation - a Grade 1 listed building, designed by George Gilbert Scott, a famous Victorian architect. Wonderful windows which have examples from most of the famous stained glass manufacturing firms of the Victorian revival period, and one of the largest organs in Europe designed and installed by Edmund Schultze. Who knew?
Then a quick trip to the market, where Jane found a jigsaw stall, where she picked up three jigsaws by her favourite - Jan van Hasteren! Bonus!
On the way home we went shopping at Fox Valley - double bonus!
