Vigo to Redondela

I’m just back from a stroll around Redonela giving up on account of heat, 30 degrees, once I’d reached the estuary and spotted the egret I was looking for. Walking purposefully in these temperatures feels easier, today was a short hop between Vigo and Redondela where the famous Rande Bridge is in view in both places and in between.

Getting out of Vigo was easy once I’d decided to aim for going in a straight line upwards, I saw the first Camino arrow after an hour, and the two chaps from Leeds that I see most days. They had been following me assuming I knew the way which I didn’t. For the next 16k I saw 5 more pilgrims and then about 50 as we approached the outskirts of Redonela where the Portuguese Central route meets the Coastal route. I expect it to be busy tomorrow and then after Pontevedra I take the much less traveled Spiritual Variant.

Bridges seem to have been a theme today and I didn’t have to walk over any of them. Just beside my accommodation, which has a washing machine, the main railway between Vigo and Santiago crosses right over the town via a lengthy viaduct, extra.
