Mémoire de fille

Tonight I saw a very good theatre adaptation of Annie Ernaux's Memoire de fille at the Théâtre du Vieux Colombier. I met up with my colleague E ahead of it for a drink and we were joined by another Ernaux specialist a little later. E has also been here for the year and is leaving a day before us. It's been lovely to have been able to see her a few times over the past few months! The play stuck quite closely to the novel and was performed by three young women, emphasizing that the experience described, of sexual victimization and bullying, which might feel unique and solitary, is in fact often collective. 

F left this morning and very kindly took one of our suitcases back with her. J went with her to the airport to help carry it and see her off. Then he did a little shopping before heading home. I was in writing mode and quite productive, so I went with that.
