The tree surgeons were busy yesterday cutting up a mature beech tree that had fallen in one of the big storms. They have also removed a rotten tree that has been lying nearby for a number of years, sheltering the sheep and hosting mini beasts and fungi. The resulting logs have been stacked up as neatly as their odd shapes will allow. I can’t help wondering if a wood turner will get the opportunity to create something with it.
