Cubs!

For a few nights the local fox cubs have been coming into the garden, as seen on the trail camera. So far we have seen only two, mainly together, with a parent keeping an eye from a distance. They drink from the shallow bird bath.

This morning, at just past 9.30am this little one came visiting alone and I managed to catch this shot as it crossed the patio in pursuit of a dunnock. I don't think it planned on catching the bird, I imagine it was unfamiliar with the daytime population, hence the puzzled expression. I think this was the smaller of the two, though they both seem fairly independent.

It then left by the familiar route, along the hedge and into next door behind the gooseberry cage.
