Golf Balls
This afternoon me & Mrs MD got into the car and followed its bonnet. It took us over the moors to Keighley, Skipton and Grassington where we stopped off, very briefly - it was very, very busy. We then on through Nidderdale to Pateley Bridge and back home via Addingham.
We passed by RAF Menwith Hill which is a very secretive military base just outside Harrogate. It is owned by the Ministry of Defence and acts as a “communication intercept and intelligence support service for both the United Kingdom and the United States of America”.
The site is occupied by the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force - the 'golf balls' are designed to shield and protect radar equipment, particularly from the elements.
