Climbing Whiteside

The gov toiling up the fell today.
We caught the bus and arrived at Lanthwaite a little after 11 and were climbing by 20 past.
Made the summit of Whiteside by 12.30 for coffee then on to Hopegill Head for lunch at 13.40. We got to Grisedale Pike by 15.15 and stopped for fruit and a drink.
The descent from Grisedale Pike was extremely arduous, steep, loose scree and lots of scrambling - 2500 ft lost in just over two miles!
Back to the caravan for a late pot of tea and a shower before heading off to the pub for fish and chips.
Totally blasted - thankfully it is going to rain a lot tomorrow so we can stay in and read the paper,
