Steps at Stokeley Castle

We visited a wonderful English Heritage castle/manor house in Shropshire today. The building was amazing - fantastic wooden beams and ancient doors. I love old stairs - to me, they have a history of many thousands of feet treading on them over the centuries and changing their original shape. These steps were around 900 years old and were part of an outside staircase leading to the solar above the great hall.
