Scrawny Old Man

I wish to make a complaint

- I wish to complain about this gannet what I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique.
- Ah yes the Norwegian blue, what's wrong with it?
- I'll tell you what's wrong with it. It's dead, that's what's wrong with it.
- Nah, nah, it's resting, look.
- Look my lad, I know a dead gannet when I see one and I'm looking at one right now.
[Norwegian blue??]

Anyway I wish to make an apology to the excellent Sefferdog for not answering his question last night. It concerned what we would be doing today, so here we go -
No marathons, my marathon-running days are long gone.
No triathlons, I don't like swimming. But one of our parkrun organisers, Elaine, is currently doing the city to summit, an ironman length triathlon which involved a 2.4 mile sea swim (apparently shortened to 2 miles because of the coldness of the water), 112 mile bike ride to Glencoe today and off-road marathon up Ben Nevis tomorrow.
For this mere mortal:
The plan was to bike to parkrun as my warm-up, then run, but then jt asked me to feed his rabbit this morning - so I biked to his house then to Camperdown park for the run - 7.8 mile hilly bike ride. Felt really great and ready to run when I arrived (with 20 minutes to spare) and made a much better start than usual.
The run was great on a beautiful sunny morning and I got a pb, not just cracking the elusive 23-minute target but smashing it, getting round in 22:43. Eighth place but still only 3rd in the VM55-59 age category.
And Mrs RT got a pb too. And there was a new course record, a visitor from Edinburgh getting round in 16:31 - only the second time anybody's done it in under 17 minutes. And if that sounds slow for a 5k - come and try our course.
Then I biked home (12.6 miles on the bike altogether), and then we went for a gentle stroll on the Fife coast where we saw this ex-gannet.
