Goodbye Joe Hendry - you will be missed

Bit of a sad day today because I heard the sad news that Joe Hendry, the leader of Carlisle City Council, died last night after suffering a heart attack last week.

I had only known him for six months, since moving to Carlisle in December, but he was always helpful and friendly to me. He had a genuine passion for the city. It says a lot that tributes have been paid across the political spectrum.

As a mark of respect the flag was flying at half mast outside the civic centre.
