Qaqortoq, Greenland
A lovely sunny day in Qaqortoq today, and a very pretty town with lots of colourful houses.
When we came ashore, we were warned that there had been quite a bit of polar bear activity in the past couple of weeks, and even one incident in the center of town last week where a bear had to be shot, so you can imagine Mr. W and I were quite careful to check our surroundings as we wandered around!
We visited a charming little church built in the 1700's, and also popped in to the local supermarket just to see what was available in this remote part of the world -- we were very impressed with the surprisingly cosmopolitan selection. Everything from Tzatziki to English Cheddar cheese to hummus to foie gras, as well as a whole spectrum of wines to choose from!
