A cautionary sign

I saw this sign today on a telegraph pole by the road that passes our house. I think it,  and others along the road, have been put up by neighbours a few doors away who moved in a few months ago and have several cats. Sadly, one of their cats was killed on the road earlier this month. The road was quite quiet when we moved here over 30 years ago but it does now seem to have a constant stream of traffic for much of the day, very often failing to keep to the 40 mph speed limit. We have argued for the speed limit to be reduced to 30 mph as there have been a number of accidents over the years but, so far, to no avail. The RSPCA centre opposite will not let people living in our row of houses have a young rescue cat because of concerns about the road. It would be nice to think that drivers will pay heed to these signs, however "unofficial" they may be.
