I picked up a few Casuarina (sheoak) twigs the other day, and once they were in the warmth of the house, on my desk, the cones burst open and flung their seeds out. The biggest surprise was that the cones with their segments open looked incredibly like petalled flowers, not your standard sheoak cones.
