The Doors

A bit of a 'mooching' day today.  We were a bit later getting up and then walked down into the harbour area and did a bit of shopping and sat in a cafe for a while and watched the world go by.  We then headed back to the apartment and have had a lazy afternoon pottering around and reading.  All very relaxing!

The walk down to the harbour is down the Kali Strata; a street of around 500 steps that links the harbour to the old town where we stay.  In the late 1800's it was where all the wealthy merchants had their houses but when the population dwindled tenfold in the 1900's most of the houses were abandoned and fell into ruin.  While we've been coming here we have seen many restored (and some of those fall back to ruin again!) but there are still some spectacular ruins along the way.

I decided to take pictures of a few of the doors along the Kali Strata and there is a collage of some of them here.  One of them has a rather obscene item drawn on it but it's unlikely you'll spot it given the size of the pictures!
