Avondvierdaagse, Enkhuizen

Every year Dutch schoolchildren walk five kilometers on four consecutive evenings. This is the second year we've participated. On the last day everyone walks down the main street with friends and relatives standing by to give bunches of flowers to the children.

As usual, I'm not sure about the origins or reasons for this tradition. I'll have to look it up. No doubt tomorrow there will be more pictures of us trekking around the town. Maybe by then I will have a better idea of what it is all about.
