The Grammar School, Heckmondwike
SATURDAY
I made a 250 mile round trip over to Heckmondwike for an event to celebrate the 125 year anniversary of The Grammar School.
It was strange to set foot in some of the rooms and corridors that have hardly changed sine I left 49 years ago. It was good to catch up with former pupils and teachers and hear about some of the others who either couldn't make it or are sadly no longer with us.
The photo shows the main hall which has hardly changed since I left the school 50 years ago. Jack, one of the current pupils provided us with a tour and at the end, afternoon tea was served in the old school dining room.
Afterwards, I called in at Liversedge Cemetery for a moment of reflection before heading home to North Wales.
