Pitcher Plant ( Sarracenia )

Another item that has been waiting very patiently to be blipped, but nowhere near as long as the Lichen had.  For Father's Day, the girls bought me three Sarracenia, so meat "Fiona".  I haven't been able to find the species the label just says Sarracenia "Fiona".

The pitchers start off green and as they mature they develop a lovely red colour fading back to green as you move down the pitcher.  Being carnivorous they need to catch flies.  I will in good weather be putting them outside if there haven't been any flies in the house.  As they can't stand the chemicals in tap water it is fortunate we have two water butts.
