Celebrating A Life And Legacy Of Prayer And Love!
This afternoon, many of us who had known her gathered at FBC to celebrate the life and legacy of Evelyn Davison. Julie sang two beautiful songs, inviting the congregation to join her on the last verses and choruses of both songs. We heard from her current pastor, Pastor Wes, her long-time pastor, Bro. Steve, and the interim pastor, Bro. David, about the impact Evelyn and her love and faithful prayers had on each of their lives and ministries over the years. Thirty nine years ago, Evelyn began a Christian radio program called Love Talk that will be continuing, thanks to women that she drew into that ministry over the years and they spoke eloquently today about their time with her. One of her granddaughters, Christina shared her obituary and made us laugh with memories of the way Evelyn always wanted her to be a girly girl, but she wasn't and always wanted to wear cowboy boots, despite Evelyn's best efforts to change her mind. As we came too the close of the service, all of those who had spoken or sung, gathered around her husband of almost 72 years, Van, and prayed over him, as Pastor Wes voiced the prayer for all of us,that Van will be comforted and strengthened in the coming days. It was a beautiful, uplifting service for an exemplary servant of God and we will miss her, but we know that we will see her again......
