Winners!

A day spent bowling.
Brian, Brenda and I entered the Brampton Bowls Club Open Triples event, held annually at the oldest bowling club in the world, founded in 1761.
18 teams entered from the north Cumbria and west Northumberland area. Format was four games of seven ends. Three bowls per player. Points awarded for points scored and ends won.
We won three of our four games as follows:
9-5, 5 ends
8-11, 4 ends
8-6, 4 ends
10-1, 6 ends.
Totals 35-23, 19 ends.
Cup was presented by Brian Smith who organised the day, well done him, a huge job.
The amazing thing is, if you are still with me, is that we won prize money too: £60 to share between us. It’s the first time I’ve ever won money at sport of any kind. Outgoings were lunch, coffee and cakes (all homemade by club members) and entry fee, so we may have just about broken even!
A thoroughly enjoyable day in blustery showery conditions.
