Escape velocity

Leaving the house and land for a week requires a lot of winding up and finishing off. A remarkably cool day and a variety of outdoor tasks: cleaning off and washing down balcony and terracotta patio; tidying away; last grass cutting; walking the perimeter 1.8m fence to tie up old posts and keep it all upright through the summer; watering and shifting pots to shady trays to get through a week’s heat; and then a big strimming session clearing back to the terrace walls that have overflowed with OMB and cleavers, thistles, etc. A glass o wine in a translucent evening actually sitting in the sun rather than cowering from it; tea and bed exhausted for a 5:15 start.
