Saturday eggs
Saturday brunch: poached eggs, fresh from the farm on the hilltop, with P's delicious home-made crumpets. I'm so grateful to the person who sent the microwaved poached eggs tip to the village newsletter; 30 seconds in a little bowl of water, perfect every time.
Later, I baked. First, I picked rhubarb for a vegan rhubarb cake, then, once that was in the oven, J joined me to make chocolate chip cookies, using Nigella's indulgently chocolatey recipe. This was preparation for Sunday's picnic afternoon tea, and was fun, as it's some time since we last made cakes. I also picked a big bowl of spinach, some of which P used in the evening's pasta sauce .
