Arthur's vine
This is the vine that we transplanted from my dear Uncle Arthur's garden after he died to our allotment. It's put on a real spurt of growth this summer, having been pretty dormant previously, so that we are now having to string it. Presumably this is due to June being the hottest since records began. Fingers crossed for some grapes later in the year. It would never have survived had it remained at Uncle Arthur's, as his garden has almost disappeared under a massive extension and ugly revamping of the house. It is now unrecognisable from the homely 1950s council house in Hammond Road that he loved so much.
