Haramaanjärvi
After my husband came home we cycled to the Ice Church Mountain area. No ice, but stormy winds still roaming around.
Haramaanjärvi is the name of the lake behind us.
My dad had the operation today. It went okay. They got the cancer out and they also removed one lymph node. He was told that he won the lottery that it was found so early and that they took the biopsy where he went. This cancer type is rare and only 6 to 10 cases are found in Finland / year. So the doctors don't really recognize it. It's very aggressive and first will attack the lymph nodes and then onto the stomach area and that's it. It's RIP. It even has its own type of treatment as the common ones like chemo doesn't work on it. My dad said they took lots of pictures of the procedure for education purposes. He had spinal anesthesia so he was awake the whole time. It took two hours as they also too skin to replace the area where the cancer was.
He'll spend the night in hospital and tomorrow my mum will go get him home. First change of bandage is on Monday and the controls start after 4 weeks. Tomorrow he'll hear about the rest of the reatments and radiations.
It's amazing what good we people can do. How amazing things we are able to do. Just amazing.
