Abel, seaman
We just spent four days in Tasmania, where getting online wasn't easy, so I'm back-blipping the next few days. I did try to get some pics of the amazingly beautiful landscape, forests, mountains and rivers, but they didn't work out, mostly due to a Ansell Adams complex I didn't realise I had. I also saw, but failed to photograph, a wombat.
So instead, and for all you history lovers, this is a statue commemorating Abel Janzoon Tasman, who on 24 November 1642 became the first European to sight the island. The statue is part of a memorial and fountain at Hobart's Salamanca precinct.
