To Galloway

Bonding with Fergus, Lord of Galloway. An 11th century ruler of the then quasi or wholly independent Galloway that looked south to the Lake District, south west to the Isle of Man and west to Ireland. Galloway was incorporated into Scotland in the 12th century.

After a long meandering drive along the Solway cost from Dumfries to Kirkcudbright we drive down the west side of the Whithorn peninsula (the Machars) to the delightful Isle of Whithorn. 13C felt about right after the rigours of Italy. Good food at the Steam Packet Inn. (The packet ran down to Liverpool.)

Another shot of the harbour at flood tide on a full moon.
